Four queer games projects take part in our pitching this year — all of them Brazilian, yet not released and independent.

With Sofia Wickerhauser and Ariel Velloso

Sofia Wickerhauser: is a filmmaker and producer at White Wolfy, has produced several LGBT+ short films which altogether took part in more than 200 editions of international festivals, such as Mix Brasil Festival, Kinoforum Short Film Festival, Whistler Film Festival, among others. Currently, she is the Wicked Queer curator, in Boston.

Ariel Velloso: is graduated in Game Design from Anhembi Morumbi University (2010), was Gamemaker Relations and Production Assistant at the first BIG Festival, the biggest independent game festival in Latin America (2012). From 2014 to 2019, he worked with public policy for games at Spcine, organizing events at Virada Cultural in São Paulo and coordinating edicts. In 2018, she opened her own game studio, Aipo Digital, which currently has two projects in progress financed by São Paulo Cultural Action Program (ProAC).

Director Adriano Gonfiantini from Stink presents the case for the new Mix Brasil Festival campaign, “We’ve never been so mix”, which was fully AI-generated, in an experiment mixing several kinds of tools and techniques for the making of the film.

Adriano Gonfiantini was born in São Paulo, is a photographer, director and cinematographer. His work registers the existence, under a cinematographic and meticulous view, seeking to bring the whole light complexity present in the real scenery surrounding him. In his works, it’s possible to notice the realism and saturation of powerful images, vibrating in the eyes and waking an interest in unraveling the magical moment which is depicted.

Mathieu Lindon was born in 1955. Author and literary critic, works for many years at Libération newspaper. Spcine/Maria João MixLab Workshop: Shor films script introduction for LGBT+ makers

In this workshop, we’ll be presenting theories and practices on scripts for those wishing to translate ideas to the writing. The online course lasts 3 hours and is aimed to LGBT+ makers who want to develop a script idea for a short movie. By the end of the session, the participants would have created a logline for their projects and learned basic notions on audiovisual script.

Participants will be selected based on registration. The registration link will be published on the festival’s social networks.

Victor Nascimento: has a master’s degree in screenwriting from the American Film Institute in Los Angeles, has awarded CAPES/Fulbright scholarship and director of Academia Internacional de Cinema — São Paulo. His most recent work was the screenplay of Globoplay series “The Life Ahead”.

Fernanda Frotté: has a master’s degree in screenwriting from Columbia University, in New York, has awarded CAPES/Fulbright full scholarship. Back to Brasil, has written the series “The Life Ahead” for Globoplay. Currently she is the Development Executive at RT Features.
